A global market and Lloyd's syndicate insurance business is looking for an Accounting Operations Assistant to join their busy Finance Operations division. The company offer specialty insurance to a range of industries such as Aerospace, Marine, Healthcare, Property & Construction, and many more. As an Accounting Operations Assistant, you would be using your operational and technical skills, and ability to analyse & problem solve to ensure accurate processing of payments & banking operations for multiple lines of the business.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Processing both internal and external payments whilst recording the transactions in accordance with group policies onto the general ledger
  • Liaising with the banks as their main point of contact, resolving payments and banking related issues raised by either internal or external stakeholders
  • Maintenance of the cash bank account reference table to ensure it remains up to date for reporting purposes
  • Create and maintain procedure / policy documentation
  • Meet strict deliverables in relation to reconciliations, customer responses and payment balancing
  • Submit payment transactions to the general ledger accountant
  • Monitor shared e-mails to ensure all queries and addressed and met in the proper procedure
  • Respond to customer inquiries and maintain high standards in a face-to-face customer service environment
  • Work closely with staff members across the business
  • Participation in both internal & external audits
  • Participation in onboarding and training of new staff members

For this role you should:

  • Be educated to at least degree level with general accounting experience
  • Have experience working in a high paced financial environment
  • Understanding of accounting principles and concepts
  • Experience working in Treasury, Financial Services and Accounts Payable
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail & analytical skills
  • Outstanding organisation with the ability to prioritise your own workload
  • Critical thinking skills, accuracy focused
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (both written & verbal)
