My Client has implemented a strategy to move certain key business systems to a cloud platform and require a Cloud Systems engineer to help facilitate that migration. The successful candidate will be an experienced Infrastructure engineer with SME-level experience on Microsoft's Azure platform.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Role: As a Systems Cloud Engineer - Azure, you will be responsible for building and maintaining complex infrastructure solutions with a focus on Microsoft Azure cloud PaaS solutions, as part of the IT Operations Infrastructure team. The role will initially consist of mainly project-based requirements as part of migrating Marken's on-premise hosted systems into a cloud-hosted environment but will transition into maintaining and supporting the environment on a BAU basis after any projects are complete. There will be interfaces with other teams within IT such as Applications, Systems architecture, and project management as part of this.
Essential Skills
- Good interpersonal skills such as communication will be vital to this role as part of our teamworking ethos.
- Solid understanding of Cloud / Virtual Compute platforms and their supporting infrastructure, including Machine Images and deployment, Container creation and management.
- General experience and understanding of Windows based infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge and experience of the traditional networking stack - Routing, Switching, Vlan and Firewalls.
- Cloud centric networking technologies, i.e. Vnets, peering, NSGs, ASGs etc.
- DevOps technologies - CI-CD stacks, Git, Terraform, Kubernetes, containers, etc.
- Automation - Azure blueprints, ARM templates, PowerShell etc
- Database server management - SQL
- Experience of working with the latest automation tools in a DevOps and Agile
- Proven experience of working within supplier-led service delivery models
- Proven ability to succeed in collaborative work environments using Agile/Scrum
Role Requirements
As part of the IT Operations group infrastructure team, you will work on the implementation and ongoing management of Marken's cloud environment. The cloud environment will consist of various business applications and infrastructure components in PaaS and IaaS settings. There will be a strong emphasis on IaC (Infrastructure as Code), so experience and knowledge in that area is essential.
On BAU operations, you will be required to manage processes such as Monitoring, DR planning and scheduled DR testing.
A thorough knowledge of recognised testing process is an advantage, as is knowledge/understanding of software and infrastructure architecture
