Data Governance Manager | London Market Insurance

My client is a London Market insurance firm and they are on the market looking for a Data Governance Manager who can take ownership of data insights and investigations across the business. This person in the role will leading enterprise data governance across all functions including such as Finance, Underwriting and Operations.

The role:

  • Lead the overall accountability for data integrity by establishing the necessary processes, ownership and controls around the flow of data from policy and/or claim systems through to financial and reporting systems.
  • Manage Master Data Services solution with integration using SSIS from our Policy Administration Systems and downstream to Financial Reporting Systems.
  • Provide training and guidance to Data Owners and Stewards on MDS processes and their responsibilities.
  • Ensuring that data capture requirements are fully up-to-date, defined, understood and embedded in operational processes across the business to ensure timely, accurate and complete data.
  • To facilitate improved data quality by providing expert support on the use of appropriate software within the business (e.g. DQ Pro, Informatica DQ Cloud, MDS, Alation)
  • Profile data quality on a one-off and ongoing basis through critical systems, leveraging tooling such as DQPro and Informatica to engender and empower a data culture which values data quality and how this is imperative for business insights and success.
  • Lead organizational minimum Data Standards in parallel with data quality findings.
  • Work with Data Protection Officer across PII, GDPR, and Data Retention strategies.

Skills needed:

  • Insurance experience with statistical reporting experience preferable
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to work effectively among all levels of internal/external partners/clients.
  • Proven influence, management and decision-making skills.
  • Broad understanding of the insurance industry, its products, practices and operations. Detailed technical knowledge of P&C insurance and Lloyds syndicate data flow systems and their terminology
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines concurrently.
  • Essential advanced computer skills in Informatica DQ, Python, and Microsoft Systems i.e. SQL, SSIS, MDS
  • Preferred experience with Tableau, Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery and NLP techniques.
