As a Senior Developer joining this successful Insurance business you will be responsible for leading the technical execution and enhancement of our suite of software products. You will also be responsible for supporting and guiding other developers, helping drive best practices and create products and solutions our customers love. As part of the IT team, you will work within a culture where communication and teamwork are favoured over hierarchical structure. Day-to-day working alongside other Developers, Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and more.

This company has a multitude of offices across the UK and have recently set up their Manchester office. There is an established scrum team in place but they are now looking for a mid - senior level .NET developer who can come in with some experience with large estates and driving architecture.

The business recognises the huge impact that the modern digital era, particularly new fin-tech businesses, are having on the world of insurance and is seeking developers with a keen interest in new technologies, the enthusiasm to grasp these changes, and the energy to drive development of new systems and services.

You can expect up to a 15% pension, 10% bonus, private medical and dental for you and the whole family, as well as true Agile and flexible working, including work from home options post covid (up to 2/3 days a week).

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for developing secure, robust, scalable technical products. Including testing and releasing of code from Test through to UAT and Production
  2. Responsible for guiding and overseeing developers through tasks, providing direction and advice where required.
  3. Responsible for carrying out code reviews and approvals on any code changes.
  4. Responsible for communicating technical detail to non-technical team members and stakeholders such as Project Managers, Testers and clients.
  5. Responsible for leading the technical delivery of the project - including leading other developers within the project team where necessary.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Broad expertise in theoretical and practical application of software engineering best practices, methods and techniques
  • Experience with Agile software development frameworks and processes
  • T- shaped skill set. In depth knowledge and experience in developing software applications on a specific software platform or technology and broad knowledge of related technologies.
  • Proficient in .Net, C#, HTML5, CSS, XML, Windows and IIS
  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like React (preferred), Angular, AJAX etc.
  • Experience in API development and microservices architecture
  • Experience in Queue frameworks (ideally with RabbitMQ and Azure Service Bus)
  • Experience with SQL Server and SSIS
  • Extensive knowledge of source code change management primarily using GitHub
  • Understanding of continuous delivery, integration, deployment and tools like GitHub Actions, Harness and Jenkins.
  • Understanding of automated testing and tools like Mabl and X-Ray
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to discuss, articulate and simplify technology to non-technical people.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
