Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Analyst - Remote - Contract To Hire


Function as the primary liaison between the functional Management teams and the IT Development group or external vendors to determine enterprise system needs and assemble associated requirements that serve as the basis for systems development and enhancements. Works closely with these respective functional teams to define and understand relevant business processes and their inter-relationship with our enterprise IT systems in order to help shape and define areas that can drive a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary liaison between functional departments (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Legal, Procurement, etc.) and the IT Department.
  • Manage the portfolio of projects within these respective areas in regards to prioritization, requirements gathering, return on investment analysis, user acceptance testing, user training, and issue management.
  • Provides day-to-day operational management and guidance for the Business Services team, including policy and procedure definitions and adherence of the teams to those policies and procedures.
  • Provides strategic vision and direction for operational and analytical software applications.
  • Directs the planning, budgeting and operations for Business Services.
  • Manages vendor relationships and software licensing agreements.
  • Develops and administers Application Lifecycle Management policies and procedures.
  • Translates business objectives for planning, documenting, selecting and directing the requirements for the design of new applications, ensuring that the products and services integrate into the existing applications and technology.
  • Oversees the project implementation of strategically complex and enterprise-wide application solutions.
  • Develops and designs projects that either via extensions to existing applications or development of new applications provide opportunities for increased productivity in the business community. Ensures that these development efforts meet the expectations as outlined within the business requirements documentation.
  • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommends appropriate service and staffing levels.
  • Exercises administrative control over all phases of department operations and resource planning, development and recruitment, either through direct involvement or through subordinates.
  • Creates and manages relevant software-related projects, to include software development/implementation/optimization projects using our internal Project Management tools and methodologies.
  • Oversees detailed documentation of projects including activity reporting, definition of setup, and operational procedures.
  • Establishes Service Level Agreements (SLA's) for all applications under their management umbrella ensuring that these are met by respective team members. Spearheads development of appropriate monitoring methodologies to ensure that all applications are supported as defined within the aforementioned SLA's.
  • Manages resource allocation on a day-to-day basis and for projects, to include primarily Business Analyst resources - either employees and/or consultants that are temporarily hired depending on resource requirements.
  • Develops, manages, updates and coordinates the Applications Strategic Plan. Ensures all applications projects move through appropriate approvals and meet the applications Strategic Plan.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; facilitates meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field and keeps abreast of technological changes and innovations.
  • Responsible for direct management of assigned staff and temporary or contract personnel, including duties related to performance management, hiring, discipline, etc.
  • Mentors and leads team members by providing guidance and direction to help them reach their full potential and grow in their careers.
  • Facilitates meetings, seminars, and training sessions to keep both themselves and their team members up to speed on the latest development technologies available. Works with Senior Applications Engineers to determine opportunities where new technologies can be implemented to the benefit of the business at large.
  • Manages 4-6 direct reports and up to a team of 10-15 subordinate employees comprising of Business Analysts / Systems Analysts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Borden's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronics Engineering from four-year College or University (highly preferred); Advanced degree and/or system certification a plus; or 10 - 12 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to focus on overall business success and find opportunities within IT and the Business to improve business performance.
  • Strong Project Management skills with the ability to set targets, design improvement plans, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to Agile, CMMI, ITIL a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and manage a diverse population group across different departments and locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver concurrent projects in highly dynamic environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive customer service orientation with both internal and external clients.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated and have a desire to continually learn as they go.

Technical Skills

    • Strong understanding of IBMi technology set as it pertains to applications.
    • Strong technical skills in JD Edwards (EnterpriseOne 8.11 or higher).
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365
