Security & Network Engineer
Brussels - Hybrid : 3 days on site per week
English and (French and/or Dutch fluency) is required
What You'll Do
Network Design and Implementation:
- Design and manage resilient LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
- Ensure top-notch network performance and scalability.
- Utilize cutting-edge network monitoring tools.
Security Management:
- Develop and enforce robust network security policies.
- Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Virtualization:
- Oversee virtual environments using VMware and Proxmox.
- Optimize resources for high availability.
- Resolve virtualization issues swiftly.
Load Balancing:
- Implement and manage HAProxy load balancers.
- Ensure load balancing for high availability and performance.
- Monitor and tweak load balancer settings as needed.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Quickly diagnose and resolve network and security issues.
- Provide expert incident support.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Stay updated on the latest security trends and technologies.
- Implement best practices for network management.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations.
- Generate regular performance and security reports.
- Assist in capacity planning and future infrastructure needs.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with IT team members, developers, and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Report to the Infrastructure Team Leader.
What You Need
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. Relevant experience considered.
Experience:
- 3+ years in network and security engineering.
- Proven network design and management experience.
- Strong background in network security and firewall management.
- Extensive experience with VMware and Proxmox.
- Expertise in HAProxy load balancing.
Skills:
- Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network protocols.
- Strong understanding of security principles.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, Zabbix).
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell).
- Linux/Windows expertise is a plus.
Certifications:
- CCNA, CISSP, CEH, VCP, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
