Senior Actuary - Modelling (Mortality/Morbidity)


This is where you will work

As part of the Insurance Risk team, you will be responsible for building the models for the insurance risks of the company. You will be not only the developer of the models we use to calculate and estimate the risks, but also the expert to which all of our stakeholders turn to when they need advice on insurance risks.

Your team, the Insurance Risk team, is a part of Risk Management within the company. Their team of eight is a mixed lot of different nationalities, consisting of mathematicians, econometrists and actuaries. It is a team of experts, hence expect in-depth content discussions, general communication clear and to the point, flexibility in how the work is organized, an open and informal atmosphere

This are your responsibilities

In this job you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and improving risk models related to insurance and business risks
  • Develop data analyses related to these risks that provide relevant insights for managing them
  • Be able to discuss your models with validators and auditors.
  • Follow up on the implementation of capital requirements in reporting processes

You have a get-things-done mentality with an attention to quality and detail. You can develop adequate modelling solutions which pass the scrutiny of validators and regulators. You can effectively promote your work to internal stakeholders and meet any challenges raised. You work to achieve the team's objectives with due diligence and within agreed timelines without losing a feel for the bigger picture. You further:

  • Have a quantitative master's degree and have relevant experience with regard to statistical modelling of insurance risks
  • Have a basic knowledge of Solvency-II regulations
  • Are experienced with Excel (VBA), R or Python
  • Are fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Have good communication, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills
