Senior Fund Accountant

The Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for all the Fund Accounting. The function is currently in the early stage of development and requires someone with the ability to take on a complex and demanding role, who is confident working autonomously and who has the skills and ability to develop the controls and processes. The role will suit someone who is adaptable, and flexible with a can-do attitude, looking for an opportunity to drive the development of the Fund Accounting function.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervising & coaching the more junior fund accountant(s) within the team
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of the GL in Investpro. Analysing the output and identifying issues in a timely fashion and drive the corrections required back into Ops for remediation
  • Complete journal postings in Sage and reconcile the GL between Sage and Investpro
  • Manage posting rules and transaction types within Investpro and ensure correct mapping to SAGE
  • Ensure all fees set up by operations are in Investpro are reconciled and new fees reviewed.
  • Development and generation of monthly MI pack for fund accounting.
  • Complete daily cash reconciliations of all fund related bank accounts and timely clearance of dated items.
  • Review Monthly stock reconciliation for collective investments.
  • Monthly SII data run and reconciliation of asset data, liaising with operations to add missing fund data.
  • Management of fund accounting for outsourced portfolios.
  • Provide technical support to ops when required for new transaction types to ensure the correct processing so the transactions are correctly reflected in the GL.
  • Provide support with the annual audit.
  • Answering queries both internally and externally as they arise by monitoring the Finance email inbox.
  • Provide Treasury support when required

Qualifications, Experience, Skills

  • An experienced and highly skilled Fund Accountant with relevant industry knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the reconciliations process
  • A high level of mental agility - demonstrable capacity to quickly and accurately work through complex functions - essential
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Accountancy qualifications and/or attendance of fund accounting course - highly desirable
  • This person will need to interact closely with the Ops team and software provider and so will need to have strong communication skills, be collaborative and be eager to drive through change
  • Solid and demonstrable experience successfully developing controls and processes within a fund accounting team - highly desirable
  • Strong leadership & coaching skills, preferably with recent management experience or recent management development training attendance
  • Ability to resolve and communicate complex issues to finance and non-finance staff.
  • Proven track record of delivering results and a key eye for detail
  • Able to pro-actively prevent, identify, and resolve issues and errors, assisting other team members and the operation teams with problem solving and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Being friendly, approachable, conscientious, diplomatically assertive when needs be but ultimately cooperative are all preferred qualities
