On behalf of our client in Leeds, Oliver James are currently recruiting for a Senior Tax Accountant. This role will solely focus on corporate tax and help support all direct tax affairs across the UK and Europe.

We are looking for a candidate to:

  • Be ATT qualified with the desire to obtain CTA qualification
  • Be a qualified Accountant, preferably ACCA or equivalent
  • Have Big 4 or in-house corporate tax experience
  • Have proven experience of working with all levels of an organisation
  • Have taxation experience within a complex financial services organisation
  • Have up to date knowledge of relevant taxation legislation
  • Have an excellent understanding of taxation best practice
  • have an excellent Knowledge of relevant software and tools
  • Have some understanding of international tax issues

You will be responsible for but not restricted to the below responsibilities:

  • To advise internal stakeholders about tax implications to inform business planning and decision making
  • Awareness of the Finance business plan to appropriately align service delivery and to inform involvement in team business planning
  • Participate in all internal meetings, as required, in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
  • Assist in liaison with tax authorities to handle disputes, tax recovery and audit resolution
  • Monitor tax legislation, regulations and rulings, interpreting and communicating to ensure that the implications of tax laws are known and the company meets its obligations
  • The refinement of process, procedures and systems to continuously improve the efficiency of tax accounting activities
  • Liaison with tax authorities as necessary to ensure requirements are understood and complied with
  • Provide high level advice, guidance and information on taxation matters to support decision making and improve understanding
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including tax authorities and internal and external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets expectations
  • Undertaking all UK corporation tax compliance and quarterly reporting for the above entities
  • Involvement in the production of reports ensuring accurate reporting and Management Information in line with agreed timescales
  • Assist on ad hoc indirect taxation and employment taxation issues to ensure correct advice and guidance is provided
  • Involvement in ad hoc projects to provide taxation input
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members to develop their knowledge and experience and improve performance and career development
