Position Overview:
The Senior Technical Investment Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing the accounting policies and external reporting for the company's investment portfolio. Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Policy Development:
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures related to investment activities in accordance with GAAP and STAT.External Reporting:
Prepare and oversee quarterly and annual investment-related disclosures in financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SEC regulations.Investment Valuation:
Collaborate with the investment team to ensure accurate valuation and accounting for a diverse portfolio, including fixed income, equity, derivatives, and alternative investments.Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor changes in accounting regulations and industry standards, assessing their impact on the company's investment accounting practices.Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, tax, and compliance teams, to provide guidance on investment-related accounting issues.Training and Development:
Mentor junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the investment accounting team.Audit Coordination:
Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations for investment accounting practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in technical accounting, preferably within the financial services or insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of investment accounting, GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Proven experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.
