We have been engaged by a rapidly growing Insurtech client in the appointment of a new CFO for their MGU/MGA insurance operations.



About the role:

This is a newly created position that will assume the Head of Finance role for a Managing General Underwriting (MGU) subsidiary of a wider insurance group. This group has experienced year on year growth with approximately half a billion in revenue.

Supporting the Business Unit CFO for the MGU platform, the chosen candidate will have full oversight of financial reporting, FP&A, financial control, strategic planning and corporate development.

Compensation on offer ranges from $220-300k plus bonus.

The client is looking for a Controller level candidate looking to step up into a CFO position, or a currently CFO professional looking to embark on a more hands on role.

This is a fully remote position with quarterly travel to New York City and London.



Key responsibilities:


  • Lead financial close and preparation of financial statements for both US GAAP and STAT financial statements.
  • Develop financial control and processes to ensure company is compliant with SOC and SOX requirements.
  • Develop accounting policies for core business and complex transactions including monitoring and assessing impact of new accounting standards and reporting requirements
  • Lead strategic initiatives such as financial system implementations and executing on our target operating model
  • Perform a variety of analysis to support a growing business
  • Create and continuously improve processes
  • Lead a growing team providing effective coaching and prioritization of deliverables



Required qualifications and credentials:


  • CPA, MBA or Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
  • Recent insurance industry experience is A MUST. Candidates without insurance industry experience will not be considered.
  • Prior experience working in a Senior Finance or Accounting position with tangible experience in Accounting under US GAAP and US Statutory Accounting principles.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and willingness to be hands on driving execution and change where needed
  • Financial change and accounting system implementation experience
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
