Role Description: As a Senior STAT Accountant, you will play a key role in our finance team, focusing on statutory reporting and accounting functions related to Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze statutory financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements for P&C insurance.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including annual and quarterly statements, to insurance departments and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to insurance operations, including premium and loss reserves.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including actuaries, underwriters, and claims professionals, to gather necessary data and information for statutory reporting purposes.
- Conduct detailed reconciliations of statutory accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements applicable to the insurance industry.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing support and documentation as needed.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve processes, controls, and efficiency within the finance function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and regulations governing insurance companies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with statutory reporting software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
