Role Description: As a Senior STAT Accountant, you will play a key role in our finance team, focusing on statutory reporting and accounting functions related to Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our company's success and growth while leveraging your expertise in P&C insurance and statutory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and analyze statutory financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements for P&C insurance.
  2. Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including annual and quarterly statements, to insurance departments and regulatory authorities.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to insurance operations, including premium and loss reserves.
  4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including actuaries, underwriters, and claims professionals, to gather necessary data and information for statutory reporting purposes.
  5. Conduct detailed reconciliations of statutory accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
  6. Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements applicable to the insurance industry.
  7. Assist with internal and external audits, providing support and documentation as needed.
  8. Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve processes, controls, and efficiency within the finance function.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and regulations governing insurance companies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with statutory reporting software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.
