We are delighted to announce the latest executive hire within our Bangkok office. James Palin joins us as a Director, who will implement more than 12 years’ regional experience in technology recruitment. He will be working closely with Richard Stepney, Director, who oversees the division’s actuarial and insurance practices.
On his advent, James commented “I first met with Oliver James in April 2016 in London, and was so impressed with the business model, I kept in touch to track their success. Now the perfect role for my skill set has materialised, so it was great timing to come on board and make the move to Thailand.”
In fact, James has already spent more than a decade building his presence in the Asia-Pacific market, starting out at a small firm in Tokyo, where he helped to raise the headcount to more than 40. James then relocated to Singapore to spearhead the Asian operation of a UK-based technology recruitment firm specialising in Cloud, and Big Data & Analytics. From Junior Consultant to Director of Consulting, it’s clear that James’ continuous professional development will be of great benefit to the Thai complement.
“James will be responsible for growing our team in line with OJ’s DNA values and D&I initiatives, while developing a brand of strength and specialism in our niche areas,” Jonny Plews, Board Director, stated. Regarding client and candidate focus, the aim is to be inch wide and mile deep in the technology sector. Oliver James will place junior-level candidates with three to five years’ experience on a contingency basis, up to C-Suite candidates on retained searches, while truly partnering and supporting clients.
Moving forward, there are aggressive goals to dominate both the technology and insurance markets. James believes Bangkok has the potential to be a 50-person office within the next five years, when viewed in a context where the job market is flourishing and investment in Thailand is rising steadily.
